BAM Brooklyn Reads
"It's like wow, I can do this? I can play the piano, I can write songs. It gives me confidence. It’s a really great experience."
Tamika - Project Rhythm Student
The Brooklyn Academy of Music's "Brooklyn Reads" is a summer program for underserved and at-risk youth to help them learn important reading, writing, performance and communication skills. The program is lead by Samara Gaev. Samples of their amazing songs can be heard on our Music page.
2011 Partner Studio
Our second year working with BAM was fruitful for all. We partnered with Ishlab studio again. With the help of our volunteers Nate Goossen and Mary Kavalauskas.
2010 Partner Studio
This was our first program in collaboration with BAM's Brooklyn Reads and Samara Gaev. Combining poetry and reading with song creation, performance and recording, we helped make the connection between the fine arts and the creative arts, through a fun, engaging and empowering program.
